Lawsuit Against ICAO Likely

Tehran will likely file a lawsuit against the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) if certain states boycott supply of jet fuel to Iran, an Iranian airport official announced.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will be entitled to take legal action against the ICAO if some countries deny fuel to the Iranian planes, head of the Noshahr Airport in the northern province of Mazandaran, Mohammad-Baqer Sharifi-Asadi, said.
The fuel ban will be illegal and against the international laws and the ICAO regulations, he told IRNA.
Sharifi-Asadi remarked that imposing sanctions on Iran by the western countries would mostly hurt themselves. Iran has no problem in supplying fuel for its aircraft, he underlined.
US President Barack Obama last week signed into law the toughest ever US sanctions on Iran aimed at choking off Tehran's access to imports of refined petroleum products like jet fuel and curbing its access to the international banking system.
After the endorsement of the legislation, Obama said that the measures, which came on top of new UN Security Council and European sanctions, showed "we are striking at the heart of the Iranian government's ability to fund and develop its nuclear programs".
