Bilal: Syria, Kuwait Connected by Brotherly Relations, Common Issues

Syria and Kuwait are connected by brotherly relations and common interests and issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, the refugees' right to return and the restoration of the occupied Syrian Golan and the rest of south Lebanon, said Minister of Information Mohsen Bilal.
During the opening ceremony of the 1st Kuwaiti-Syrian Media Forum which kicked off on Sunday at Cham Palace Hotel in Damascus, Minister Bilal added that media must focus on just causes, particularly the Arab media which must shoulder its responsibilities in shedding light on Arab issues and defending the Arab identity in face of obliteration attempts and false accusations which contradict the values of fraternity, openness and tolerance.
He stressed that the Arab media should introduce the just Arab issues in the international forums and rally the support of the international public opinion through exposing the hostile practices of the Israel's occupation and its aggressions against the occupied Arab territories in addition to its violation of the international laws as when it attacked the Freedom Flotilla.
He pointed out that pointing out that the victim and the criminal can not be treated equally.
For his part, General Coordinator of the Forum Mansour Ajami highlighted the close Syrian-Kuwaiti relations on different levels, indicating to the role of media in boosting them up.
He added that the Forum aims at promoting communication between elite politicians, journalists and economists from both sides serving the best interests of the two countries.
Chairman of the Syrian Journalists Union Elias Murad said that the Forum is the outcome of fruitful media cooperation between the two countries, adding that more joint activities will be held in the future.
The two-day Forum is organized by the Kuwait Journalists' Association in cooperation with its Syrian counterpart.
It discusses some important topics such as the Syrian-Kuwaiti relations and the role of media in enhancing them, the economic partnership binding the two countries and means to develop it in addition to the role of culture in giving new impetus to the inter-Arab relations.
Syrian-Kuwaiti Media Forum continued its first-day activities with two symposia entitled "Syrian-Kuwaiti Relations: History and Chronology" and "The Role of Media in Serving Mutual Relations" at al-Sham Palace in Damascus.
He hailed Syria's stances in support of Arab issues and interests and boosting joint Arab action.
He called for establishing an Arab media system that could convey Arab viewpoints to the international public opinion and defend just Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian issue, pointing out that this forum is a step in the right direction in the field of Arab media cooperation.
Kuwaiti Former Minister of Information Mohammed al-Sanousi pointed out in the second symposium to the capacities of the Syrian youth, highlighting Syrian brilliant interaction journalists in Kuwaiti journalism.
For his part, Secretary of Kuwaiti Journalists Association stressed the importance of an Arab media strategy that curbs Western penetration to be able to face slander attempts to distort the Islamic and Arab image, pointing out to the firm relation and coordination in stances between Kuwaiti and Syrian journalists.
