Vocational training is coming into focus for increasing productivity
- Text size
City & Guilds, the world's leading vocational awarding body has seen an increase in the demand for vocational education courses in the U.A.E. The push is coming from both individuals as well as companies. Individuals are looking to make themselves more competitive in a tough job market. Small and medium size organisations may not have the expertise on staff to provide the appropriate on the job training. Multinational organisations in the region are realising the benefits of providing their teams with top up training to give their staff the skills needed to face the challenges that lie ahead.
"The value of vocational learning is not well understood in this region. Many HR practitioners place much more emphasis on academic qualifications. However, academic degrees rarely translate directly to workplace performance. Which university degree focuses on Customer Service? Investing in vocational education programs has proven over and over again to impact organisations' bottom-line results and achievements," said Pam Bilsdon, Director of Training at Knowledgenetwork, Dubai.
