Health Authority - Abu Dhabi Addresses Sector's Demand for Qualified Medical Staff

, the regulative body of the Healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, launched today an online database of 1600 candidates who have successfully passed HAADHAAD
's Computer Based Testing (CBT) through HAADHAAD

's initiative aims to address the sector's demand for qualified medical staff and to ease the recruitment process for healthcare facilities.
The database includes names, contact details, addresses and specialties collected from 15 HAADHAAD
accredited testing centers in Egypt, India, Jordan, North Korea, Lebanon, Philippines, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE. The current list includes Radiographer and Radiotherapy Technicians, Physiotherapists, Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse and School Health Nurse.

, said: "Despite the increase in the number of medical staff in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Emirate is witnessing an increasing population growth, which resulted in increasing demand for healthcare services and the need for more qualified medical staff. To address this demand, HAADHAAD
has launched an online database of candidates who have successfully passed HAADHAAD
's computer based examinations and made it accessible to all licensed healthcare facilities in the Emirate"
"This initiative should help and support healthcare facilities in recruitment process and reduce financial and search burden and in some cases international travel to reach to qualified medical staff", Al Siksek added.
According to HAADHAAD
2009 statistics it is estimated that up to 5,000 additional doctors and 6,500 nurses will be required by 2019. If demand rates remain at their 2009 level, this will require some 1,600 doctors and almost 1,800 nurses to be recruited annually.
HAADHAAD
will continuously update the database with new contacts and additional occupational specialties that will have computer based testing in the future.Currently, there are 5,142 doctors, 8,142 nurses and 5,630 allied health professionals working in no less than 1077 licensed healthcare facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
