GRENLite Induction Technology Helps in Saving 3MW and 26 Metric Tonnes Carbon Emissions Annually
Dubai-UAE: 21 June, 2010 - PTL SOLAR™, experts in solar street lighting solutions and part of Green Energy LLC, today announced global logistics and transportation solutions provider AramexAramex
has become the first company in the Middle East to begin implementing solar solutions with the installation of solar-powered lights at its facilities in the UAE. The project is expected to save an equivalent of 3MW power and reduce carbon emissions by 26 metric tonnes annually.
AramexAramex
has commenced installation of energy-efficient GRENLite induction technology lights, that source power from the sun, at its Jebel Ali warehouses, replacing conventional 150 watts high pressure sodium lights.
Raji Hattar, AramexAramex
's Chief Sustainability Compliance Officer, said: "AramexAramex
is committed to implementing the full range of its sustainability programme by continuing to adopt renewable energy solutions. We are delighted to have partnered with PTL SOLAR™ in this project, as we were particularly seeking solar lighting solutions that are completely integrated, self-contained, water proof and compact."
Prabissh Thomas, Managing Director, PTL SOLAR™, said: "PTL is privileged to have executed this project for AramexAramex
. Today, we see an increasing number of companies in the UAE going the extra mile in their quest towards fulfilling their environmental responsibility. We are confident this healthy trend will continue, even as newer technology enters the markets."Solar lights that run on induction technology are not only a reliable outdoor lighting solution, but also easy to install and cost-effective. Efficient solar lights have a performance life of up to 100,000 hours - lasting 100 times as long as incandescent lamps.
In April 2010, PTL SOLAR™ received the 'Environmental Sector Award' at the first Middle East Business Leaders Summit and Awards 2010, for enabling the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region save an aggregate of 6,800 metric tonnes in annual carbon emissions.
As part of its campaign to transform the existing lighting system into solar-based applications, PTL SOLAR™ has supplied its solar energy outdoor lighting units GRENLite to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), as well as Dubai Outsource Zone and Dubai Internet City, both members of TECOM Investments, as well as government organisations.
In addition, the company has also powered Al Kamda Stables with solar lights as well as illuminated the first automotive factory in the UAE for heavy vehicles assembled by Scania, the world's third largest maker for trucks and buses.
In order to achieve a wider reach for deploying its solutions, PTL SOLAR™ partners with leading providers of solar technology such as Carmanah Technologies Corporation, Canada, Reliance Solar Group, India, and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan.
