Malaysia is seeking to an educational strategic partnership with UAE

35 thousand Arab students at the end of 2010 and 50 thousand by 2015
Malaysian ambassador to the state, Yahya Abdul-Jabbar said that the goal of his country ` s partnership in GITEX for higher education in Dubai is to achieve a strategic partnership in education between Malaysia and The UAE through the exchange of expertise and potentialities leading ultimately to raise the future generations, their well-being ,and -at the same time - to continue the civilized progress in all sectors ,including the education. The main objective of such partnership is the promotion of Malaysian universities and colleges in this region in addition to helping students and parents interested in studying in Malaysia.
The ambassador added that Malaysia has 20 public universities and an international university ( International Islamic university), 37 private universities , 4 branch campuses of foreign universities and 500 private collages where all play a leading role in enhancing the education sector locally ,regionally and internationally while the educational institutions offer many programs for the foreign students such as undergraduate (bachelor) and diploma programs , the vocational courses ,the basic courses and master `s degree and doctorate. They also offer twinning programs according to which the students can study for one or two years in Malaysia and to complete the rest of the course in other country. Most of private universities and colleges in Malaysia have twinning programs with the most famous universities in the United Kingdom , the United States , Australia ,Canada , France , Germany , New Zealand and other European countries which offer twinning programs and excellence degree through partnerships with the Malaysian universities and colleges.
Concerning the students of Middle East, Ambassador Abdul-Jabbar said: "The Malaysian and UAE governments are working together to strengthen the education sector through the exchange of visits by members of the faculty at the university stage, in addition to the continuous meetings between the officials of both countries to consolidate the concepts of reciprocity and achieve the strategic partnership that relies mainly on quality, efficiency and excellence in performance and achievements."
The ambassador Abdul -Jabbar added : "The advantages that Arab students find are the availability of many branches of the American and European universities that award accredited certificates internationally approved , as well as reduced costs of tuition and living compared to other countries that have a deep-rooted history in the educational field where the Malaysian government offers special facilities to them such as the issuance of visas to visit their families at any time during the study period ,and not having to pay any tuition over the fees paid by Malaysian student, in addition to providing free scholarships to the students of ARE who are interested in studying or registering in graduate studies at the Malaysian universities in the framework of educational exchange program between the two countries. There are seven students of ARE are currently studying in Malaysian universities , four of them are studying in the International Islamic university and the others in the college of multi-media ,and the most important fields desired by the students from the Middle East are Petroleum engineering , Islamic studies , information , Technology science, medicine and pharmacy."
He added: " The Malaysian ministry of higher education aims to attract approx., 80 thousand foreign students by the end of 2010 , including 35 thousand Arab students , especially in the light of noticeable growing in the number of Arab students which increased from 2000 students in 2002 to 25 thousand ones in the last year.
Dr. Syed Alwee B. Shekh Al Sagoff, Director of international marketing of higher education of Malaysia said that Malaysia is gaining worldwide recognition as a preferred destination for higher education , and ranks No. 11 as per the classification of UNESCO in terms of turnout of foreign students to study in its universities as their number reached by the end of 2009 to 80.750 students while the total number of the students of Middle East during the same period is 31.344 .
Alwee added that the Ministry of higher education in his country imposes strict controls on quality , in addition to the use of innovative technology in the educational issues ,referring to the importance of international recognition of the quality of Malaysian education by providing multiple options for the students of different academic desires as well as the twinning programs with foreign universities, particularly the United Kingdom ,the United states of America , Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France and other European countries.
The Malaysian educational official said that Malaysian ministry of higher education firmly believes that the turnout of the foreign students stems from their convictions of the quality of education in the Malaysian educational institutions and the international recognition of granted certificates as well as the associated atmospheres in terms of language and ease of social life and living, for example, but not limited.
He added that various educational programs are available in Malaysia including long-term programs such as certificates, diplomas, vocational courses ,scientific degrees , master` s and doctoral degrees as well as short-term programs such as languages courses, summer camps and incentives.
About the reasons why foreign students are interested in studying in Malaysia , Socelil Azzam ibn Shuaib , the regional director of the Malaysian higher education in the Gulf region and North Africa said : "there are many reasons which have been drawn from our experience with the foreign students as it is possible to limit the causes of turnout of the foreigners to join the Malaysian universities to the following reasons, for examples ,but not limited :
The availability of a large number of colleges and universities to choose from and in line with the wishes of the students
Twinning system of scientific degrees and programs of the 3+0 in Malaysia which provide study in affordable fees , and quality of education as well as excellent qualifications from the universities of the United Kingdom ,the United states of America , Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France .
Branches of foreign universities in Malaysia, where the students can get the high-level and appropriate qualifications in a country with low tuition and fees.
Widespread of English that helps to make live and living for the students more easily to those who mastered the language in addition to providing the appropriate atmosphere for the students interested in learning English.
A multicultural society where Malaysians belong to a mixture of races, religions and live in safety and tranquility without distinction or discrimination due to race, color or religion.
Easy procedures for entry visa.
Lower cost of living as 11 thousand "ringgit" equals US$ 2895 is enough for the student per year.
Appropriate laws for the student allowing to the foreigners to work as a part-timer for a max., 20 hours per week if the student is a full -time for studying in Malaysia (depending on the conditions set by the department of passports & immigration ) .
Malaysia is characterized by economic and social security, low rate of serious crimes.
The availability of a safe geographical environment where Malaysia is away from the belt of natural disasters
