New compact monochrome laser printers designed to make life easier
Middle East - March 21, 2010 - Samsung ElectronicsSamsung ElectronicsLoading..., a leading name in the world of consumer electronics and information technology, today announced the launch of two new monochrome laser printers. The ML-1660 and ML-1665 offer users an intuitive printing experience by incorporating a number of easy to use one-touch features into the products' design. The compact printers also include environmentally-friendly features, making them ideal for personal, home office and small office users.

Making life easier with intuitive features
As technology evolves to become increasingly complex and deliver more and more features, consumers are looking for an intuitive experience. In recognition of this SamsungSamsungLoading... has introduced a number of easy to use 'one-touch' features to the new ML-1660 and ML-1665 printers. The SamsungSamsungLoading... Print Screen button provides consumers with a quick and easy way to print exactly what they see on their PC screen at the touch of a button.

The printers are also compatible with SamsungSamsungLoading...'s AnyWeb Print software. This allows users to select, drag and drop specific content from web pages into a new blank page on their PC screen, which they can then save or print. The AnyWeb Print software allows users to print just the information they really need, rather than printing several whole web pages. This means users are not wasting time or resources such as paper and toner.

Rather than hiding the on/off switch at the back of the printer, SamsungSamsungLoading...'s new Soft Power button is located on the front panel of the devices making it simpler to turn them on and off.

Stylish and compact design to fit in with your lifestyle
The ML-1660 and ML-1665's advanced intuitive features are seamlessly integrated into the devices' design. Ideal for the smallest of working environments, the new printers are even more compact than previous SamsungSamsungLoading... models, making them the smallest on the market. They also feature a streamlined design and a stylish, glossy, chic black finish. A cover on the output tray contributes to the streamlined look and helps to keep the noise level down, avoiding unnecessary distraction in the home or work office.

With print speeds of up to 16 pages-per-minute (ppm) and a first page out time of less than 8.5 seconds, the ML-1660 and ML-1665 offer a high-quality and robust printer for personal users with regular printing needs, such as professionals and students.

"SamsungSamsungLoading... understands that consumers don't want to have to worry about working out how to use their new devices," said Mehdi Heidari, Business Head of Printers, Digital Printing Division at Samsung Gulf ElectronicsSamsung Gulf ElectronicsLoading.... "With the new printers, we have incorporated a wide range of features in a stylish and compact device to make printing simple and convenient."

Protect the environment and save money
Making it easy to switch the printers on and off encourages consumers to turn them off when they aren't being used, rather than leaving them in sleep mode. This can help to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, saving as much as 9.55 watts per hour ¹. Over a year, this equates to the same amount of energy as leaving a light on for over 18 days.

In addition, the ML-1660 and ML-1665 are dispatched with minimised packaging to reduce the impact of the devices on the environment.

The black toner cartridges that supply these printers deliver a 1,500-page yield and provide the same high standard of quality and reliability to be expected from SamsungSamsungLoading... original printing supplies.

"With their one-touch features, the ML 1660 and ML 1665 are the ideal printers for the home or small office," added Heidari.

Notes to Editors:

¹ In sleep mode, the ML-1660 and ML-1665 consume 10 watts of energy, compared to 0.45 watts when the devices are turned off.
