Bachelor and Master Open Day at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi

(PSUAD) held yesterday its open day for Bachelor and Master programmes at its campus in Al Reem Island. Open to students of all backgrounds, parents, school teachers and professionals, the university offered day long presentations and campus tours to introduce the value it offers. The day started with general presentations carried out several times during the day- on PSUAD's academic programmes, presented by the university's Executive Director Pr. Jean Yves de Cara.
Pr. de Cara introduced the university and attributed its guarantee of excellence in humanities and social sciences, Law and Economics. Present at the welcoming stage were Dr. Fabien CHAREIX - Deputy Director for academic affairs, Mr. Frank POPULAIRE - Deputy Director for administrative affairs, faculty members and administrative staff from both the Recruitment and Admissions Departments.
The university offers Bachelor degrees (3-year-European Licence) in Archaeology and History of Art, Economics and Management, French and Comparative Literature, Geography and Urban Planning, History - Civilization and International Affairs, International Business and Languages, Law and political Sciences, Philosophy and Sociology and Information & Communication (offered only in Paris on the third year of specilisation). Furthermore, Master programmes tailored to the needs and human resources requirements of the region are offered in International Law, Diplomacy and International Relations; Teaching French for Arab speakers; Marketing, Management and Communication; Urban & Regional Planning; Business and Languages; and History of Art and Museology.
Pr. de Cara also added "the university's future plans include setting a research centre or cluster that establishes links with authorities and businesses to answer the needs of the market. Furthermore, the university plans to explore scientific fields like mathematics for example in relation to other French education institute which will be established soon in the UAE".
Guests enjoyed taking tours around PSUAD's state-of-art campus. With a capacity that takes up to 2,000 students, as well as related faculty and support staff, the university's campus in Al Reem Island makes the ideal university environment. PSUAD campus features approximately 93,000m₂ of newly built, state-of-the-art teaching and recreational facilities, including accommodation for students, a library that has a capacity up to 200,000 titles, and cutting-edge classroom equipment, several cafeteria halls, quiet study rooms, etc.
At the end of the tour, guests met with the teachers of the designated programmes and learnt more about the curriculum and requirements. They also learnt that in the case of no prior mastery of the French language, the university offers an Intensive French Programme that lasts for a year and prepares students' integration into the university Licence programmes.
