For the 2010 conference, Envent is working with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and has included a special focus on the use of IT technology as a tool in business. The Information Technology Authority will use the conference to platform their 'Women and Information and Communication Technology (ICT)' initiative.
In recent decades, the widespread incorporation of ICTs into many tiers of business, political processes and everyday life has caused fundamental restructuring of the global economy. ICTs have increased the ability to work remotely and to communicate across geographical, social and gender divides. This part of the conference will focus on the impact of ICT on women and their use as a tool for their empowerment and the promotion of gender equality.
Salma al Hashmi, Chief Executive Officer of Envent and founder of the annual Women in Business conference said, "I am very excited about these workshops. They will help the next generation of business women and entrepreneurs in Oman to effectively embrace the use of information technology in their business practices as well as learn leadership skills that really work."
