In Focus - Bahrain-U.S. Economic Crossroad

The U.S. presence in Bahrain is historic and benefits the Kingdom both strategically and economically. Since the 1940s, Bahrain has been the headquarters of U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, which contributes over $150 million annually to the local economy. It was also the first Gulf country to sign a free trade agreement with the U.S. MME takes a closer look at this historic bond.

Bahrain has a long tradition in the financial sector, but over the past decade has seen a lot of competition from within the region especially from Dubai. This week MME sits down with Bahrain's Central Bank Governor, Rasheed Al Maraj in a frank discussion about the Dubai ripple effect, the GCC single currency and the fallout from the Saad and Algosaibi saga.
