Rera to take legal action over false complaints
- Text size
Dubai's Real Estate Regulatory AgencyReal Estate Regulatory Agency
(ReraRera
) has threatened to take legal action against any complainant who provides wrong information, thus limiting the number of unfounded complaints. In its online complaint form, the agency clearly states that "providing wrong information regarding the opponent may lead to taking legal action against the complainant".
ReraRera
also states that it will take legal action against violators of law in Dubai only if proper evidence is provided. It further reiterates that complaints for refunds or compensation need to be filed in Dubai Court.
Axel Jacob, Legal Consultant, Fichte & Company, told Emirates Business: "It will be important for the functioning of the market and the whole regulatory system that groundless denunciations are penalised. Whoever brings charges against somebody should be aware that without reason to do so he can cause harm to that person."
Another important aspect, Jacob believes, is that such legal consequences shall limit the number of unnecessary complaints, which may overburden the authority.

They have sold it and kept the money. rera will not help with the refund, what can I do? Will rera penalixe them? Is rera and the government the royals that own the land also?
The frustration of international investors is why false legal complaints are being filed through RERA / The Land Department or Dubai Courts. The laws of RERA have changed as fast as a tornado that would fall upon an American State due to their chaotic organizational set up, the demand to have tasks completed in an unrealistic time frame and the incorrect information that those assigned to lead have been providing H.H! Policy changes, new announcements of measures RERA would like to take is unjust towards all those that believed and lived the Dubai Dream! These actions are only deteriorating what could have been! RERA must take a step back and reconsider any new announcements. They are a major obstacle that is restricting or diminshing the property prices from stabilizing! RERA get Serious!
