Finalists for inaugural Emerging Markets Airports Awards announced
- Text size
Emerging Markets Airports Awards (EMA Awards) today unveiled names of those who made it to the final list. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held at Le Meridian Hotel in Dubai on April 26.
The finalists were selected by members of the advisory panel who scrutinised every entry and analysed each company and individual's accomplishments over the past 12 months.
Every entry was adequately supported by factual arguments, for example, evidence of best practice developments, financial results, or testimonials from partners/clients across each area. The panel members then looked for evidence, including photographs, in each area, which could be included in the entry appendices.
Arabian ReachArabian Reach
, the organisers, were particularly interested to hear of best practices with regards to recognising, addressing and reducing an airport's environmental impact and has received several nominations in the category.
"Industry participation was phenomenal," said John Ellis, CEO of EMA Awards office. "We have received a record 10,345 nominations within two months, which is remarkable."
This paves the way for the second and final stage where the industry will start voting for names now shortlisted. This will finally culminate in the awards ceremony, a event that is already being regarded as a barometer for the airports industry in the region and other emerging countries.
"There is no question that the last two years have been quite turbulent for the global industry but going by the overwhelming nominations, we are sure that the much anticipated event will help the industry look forward to a better financial year," said Ellis.
"The award ceremony recognizes great work, dedication and accomplishments in every category. The importance of leadership and commitment in these challenging economic times make this recognition event even more significant."
The event will be the first of its kind attracting a gamut of delegates and senior decision makers from the emerging market airports.
Speaking about the awards Ellis said, "It promises to recognize people and processes that work both smarter and harder."
"The awards will be an excellent tool, allowing airports from across the region and beyond to compete. This will help airports strive to achieve operational excellence and allow businesses and industry leaders to set leads."
The awards have attracted a long list of sponsors and long-term associates. Fujairah International Airport is lending its full support as a lead sponsor.
The event is also supported by Middle East Aerospace Consortium, British Aviation Group, Danish Aviation Group and German Airport Technology, Fujairah international Airport, Tiger Profiles and InsulationTiger Profiles and Insulation
and the Airport Show, amongst others.
EMA awards will honour airports from the emerging market airports of Middle east, Africa, Indian Subcontinent, Russia, CIS, Baltic States by surveying the most diverse and discerning group of professionals involved into Airports, Aviation, Aerospace, cargo & logistics industry across the emerging markets and based on the values of their endorsement, airports would be recognized.
