Exhibition focuses on 2 million housing units

DAMMAM - Meeting the immediate needs of Saudi Arabia to build two million housing units during the next five years will be the focus of the 12th Saudi International Building and Construction Exhibition (Buildex 2010), to be held from 6-10 March at the Dhahran International Exhibition Center.
Over 215 local, regional and international companies will participate in the event, the largest gathering of key players in the building and construction industry in the region.
Participants will be eyeing the $6 billion housing market to house Saudi Arabia's rapidly growing population and the $30 billion worth of major construction projects in the petrochemical, petroleum, power, water and telecommunication sector.
In addition, new construction projects in the pipeline will attract the interest of investors and large firms, particularly engineering, procurement and construction companies. The projects on stream include multiple theme parks and hotels, 70 new hospitals, 570 healthcare centers within the coming three years, 12 new desalination plants, and 62 large, medium, and small dams.
Some 20,000 visitors from the Kingdom and neighboring GCC countries are expected to attend the exhibition.
