SQU signs research agreement with Nawras

MUSCAT -- The Sultan Qaboos UniversitySultan Qaboos University
signed an agreement with NawrasNawras
to carry out a research project to measure and analyse the levels of radiation from the SQUSQU
cellphone base transmission station. The findings of the project will be utilised for examining the consistency of the amount of radiation emissions of such stations close to sensitive locations. The project will involve measurements of radiation patterns and analysis of data. Based on the findings of the study, appropriate recommendations will be put forward.Commenting on the agreement, Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos UniversitySultan Qaboos University
, said: "SQUSQU
attributes great attention to co-operation on the development of telecommunication and information sector for the latter's current and future significance." He said that such projects will contribute to boosting the research co-operation between the university and telecommunication organisations.The vice-chancellor emphasised that the university always seeks further collaborations with these institutions to contribute to the country's comprehensive development process. He thanked NawrasNawras
for its support for this project and future projects which undoubtedly will promote the SQUSQU
telecommunication research potentials.
The agreement was signed by Dr Bimani on behalf of SQUSQU
and Ross Cormack, Chief Executive Officer of NawrasNawras
. Cormack expressed his happiness for the scientific and research co-operation between his company and the university which will, in turn, contribute to its commitment to serving the educational process in the Sultanate.
