Italian cooperation project concludes

A project funded by the Italian government to renovate 83 housing units in the Sukhneh refugee camp recently concluded in Zarqa, according to a statement from the Italian embassy.
At Wednesday's closing ceremony, which also included the inauguration of a new public garden and playground, Italian Ambassador to Jordan Francesco Fransoni announced that 880,000 euros would be provided for the second phase of the programme, which seeks to improve the lives of Palestinian refugees in Jordan.
The first 750,000 euro phase of the project entailed the rehabilitation of 18 shelters in Talbieh refugee camp as well as the provision of vocational training courses and the distribution of in-kind assistance including food and winter clothes.
Wajih Azaizeh, director of the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA), also attended the ceremony along with Hashemiyeh District Governor Sami Habarneh and representatives of the Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria (ICU), the Italian NGO that implemented the first phase of the cooperation programme.
Fransoni expressed gratitude to the institutions that contributed to the programme including the DPA, the ICU and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
