, the developer behind the delayed Tiger Woods golf course said that it is standing behind the affiliation that it has with the world champion golfer. Khalid Al Malik, chief executive officer of the Dubai Properties GroupDubai Properties Group
, which after restructuring includes developer Tatweer, said in a recent media interview that revelations regarding Wood's private life and the affairs he admitted to, have not hurt the project.
"We haven't experienced any change," said Al Malik.
He also confirmed that Tiger Woods Dubai is going to be completed as planned, desp-ite work on the course, being orginally scheduled for completion in September last year.
Tiger Woods Dubai was designed to include 287 luxury villas and mansions, a golf clubhouse, a boutique hotel and will occupy 5.1 million square metres of land.
Woods himself also annouced early on in the project that he was planning to build his own mansion overlooking the golf course that would feature a theatre, a library and a pool.
Al Malik explained that work on the course, which is designed by Woods, has only reached as far as the eighth hole to date. He also declined to give a date for completion of the complex.
"Part of the project is sold and the other part will go to the market once it's completed because we believe it's better to do it then," Al Malik said.
"We are moving on with that plan and are continuing the project without a doubt."
The three real-estate units of Dubai Holding were recently combined as part of plans to merge with Emaar Properties.
