Allianz Egypt Sponsors Health and Insurance Forum in Alexandria

Cairo, November 2009- Allianz Egypt, the leading insurance services provider recently sponsored a forum held at Alex's Hilton Green Plaza in cooperation with Alexandria Business Association (ABA). The forum comprised two sessions, The first was entitled" The Importance of insurance in Egypt and the future of the industry" and the second discussed some facts about swine flu, protection and treatment. The forum was attended by 100 members of ABA, Chamber of commerce members, Rotary clubs in Alex and Honorary consuls.
The event was attended by Mr. Bashar Sawas, Allianz Egypt's Vice President; Dr./ Mohamed B. Ghatwary ABA Chairman, Dr. Hossam El Adwar, ABA's Head of Health Development Committee; Dr. Salama A. Moniem, First Undersecretary, Ministry of Health in Alexandria; and Mohamed A. Al Dhaher, Assistant Secretary General of Alexandria Governorate.
Mr. Sawas gave a speech highlighting the importance of insurance in Egypt and Allianz Egypt's position in the market. He also demonstrated some business figures of Allianz in 2008/2009, regarding premiums, investment and market share. Allianz Egypt reached LE 532 million in Direct Premiums till Q1 in 2009 for both Life and Non life products, while the Direct paid in claims totaled LE 175 million for the same period. Additionally, Mina A. Shaheed, Allianz Egypt's Corporate Sales Manager and Ihab A. Al Aal, Non-Life Sales Manager conducted a presentation about the Insurance market in Egypt, Allianz Egypt products and services, and new insurance trends in the future.
"Insurance awareness campaigns are a key element in elevating public awareness of the importance of the insurance industry and are crucial to the future growth of the sector," said Bashar Sawas, Vice President, Allianz Egypt.
