DIMDEX Delegation praise Thai hospitality
Doha-Qatar: A delegation representing the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (QENF) and the Doha 2nd International Maritime Defence Exhibition (DIMDEX) 2010 has returned from an official visit to Defense & Security 2009 in Thailand after securing agreements with several major defence manufacturers to participate at DIMDEX 2010.
Led by Commander of the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces and DIMDEX 2010 Chairman Staff Brigadier (SEA) Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Mohannadi and accompanied by Staff Colonel (SEA) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari and DIMDEX 2010 Exhibition Director Mr. Mohamad Nabhani, the delegation headed to Thailand aiming to influence Defence & Security 2009 exhibitors and delegates about the profitable business opportunities available in the valuable MENA naval ships and ships systems market.
Emphasizing DIMDEX's position at the forefront of meeting the ever-changing warfare needs of the region's naval forces, the delegation subsequently received positive responses from European and U.S. companies to their invitations to attend DIMDEX 2010.
In particular, U.S. communications equipment manufacturer Datron World Communications, suppliers of a comprehensive selection of HF and VHF products that satisfy military and professional voice and data requirements, are now planning to participate at DIMDEX 2010.
Underlining Qatar's growing reputation in global maritime defence circles, a positive meeting was held with French naval manufacturer Nexter Systems who were also keen to add DIMDEX to their plans for 2010 overseas events participation, and are expected to book a large space to exhibit their latest naval remote weapon systems which are known to intercept and neutralize any threat.
Head of the DIMDEX 2010 Delegation Staff Brigadier (SEA) Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Mohannadi said: "During our visit to Thailand the delegation worked hard over the 4 days to meet as many Defence & Security exhibitors as possible. The successful outcome was extra exhibitors coming to DIMDEX 2010 and the strengthening of our relationships with existing DIMDEX exhibitors and VIP delegates."
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Heir Apparent of the State of Qatar and Deputy Commander of the Qatar Emiri Armed Forces, DIMDEX 2010 takes place at the Doha Exhibition Center from 29th to 31st March 2010, with the 3-day exhibition incorporating the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC) on Tuesday 30th March, organized in partnership with the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies in Qatar (RUSI Qatar).
DIMDEX 2010 offers a state of the art 15,000 sq m exhibition space for 130 exhibitors from 35 countries, 20 country pavilions, 91 invited VIP delegations and 7,000 navy and maritime industry visitors, plus a display of 20 warships to visit Doha International Port (located 20 minutes from the Exhibition Centre).
"Our participation at Defense & Security 2009 was undoubtedly a major success and the DIMDEX delegation wish to thank our Thai hosts for their excellent hospitality throughout our stay in Bangkok," said Staff Colonel Al-Ansari.
"Our visit to Thailand gave us the opportunity to influence the major industry players that DIMDEX 2010 in Qatar is a crucial event in the international maritime defence calendar. We are confident this message is now becoming understood by the maritime defence industry and we look forward to a record attendance of exhibitor, VIP delegation, and navy and maritime industry visitors at DIMDEX 2010," says Mohamad Nabhani.
