IBW exhibits at Big 5 for the fifth consecutive year |
|
Continuing their attendance at Big 5 for the fifth consecutive year, International Business Wales (IBW), the overseas trade and investment arm of the Welsh Assembly Government, will be heading a trade delegation of 9 companies from the Welsh construction and building materials sector at the event.
Since their first appearance at Big 5 in 2005, IBW have brought nearly 100 companies over to the Middle East to participate in the exhibition to date.
The IBW stand will feature a wide range of innovation and expertise available in Wales, with participating companies providing products and services ranging from the supply of industrial doors for the security industry; fire, thermal and acoustic insulation products through to a manufacturer of equipment for the recycling industry.
"Big 5 is the premier event for the construction industry in the Middle East and features all the important movers and shakers who influence developments in the sector. The exhibition offers a fantastic opportunity for us to bring expert Welsh companies to connect with their counterparts in the region. We are looking forward to this years show and building on the successes of our previous visits." said Lee Jennings, Vice President (Middle East) International Business Wales.
Exhibiting for the first time in the Middle East, Digital Surface Research is launching an innovative energy conservation system called SolaVeilTM 'Cool Daylight'. The technology is able to harvest and manage daylight into a building, significantly reducing solar heat gain, eliminating glare and cutting energy bills by more than half. Solar heat gain is cut by as much as 81%, whilst maximising the potential for daylight usage within buildings with lighting savings up to 70%.
Another first time visitor to the region is Julia Brooker, a British fine artist with an International reputation, who creates elegant made-to-order abstract paintings on light reflective aluminium. From her studio in Cardiff, Wales, Julia offers a personal service making paintings to order for clients and their chosen locations, with each painting unique and hand made by her using the highest quality artist's materials. With clients including Harvey Nichols, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline and BP International, Julia works closely with her clients, their architects and interior designers to agree their character and scale.
Teddington Engineered Solutions have previously attended Big 5 with IBW and enjoyed success in the region thanks to their efforts. At last years exhibition they announced three deals signed during the event, all with local UAE companies and adding up to a total value of Dhs 1.5 million. Teddington manufacture bellows expansion joints and are the world leaders in their field, hence their work on some of Dubai's most iconic projects including the Dubai Metro and The Palm Jumeriah.
"IBW has been active in the Middle East for 5 years now, following the opening of the regional office by the Welsh Assembly in 2004, and in that time we have worked with almost 500 companies from Wales. Our recent activity in the region includes a highly successful trade mission to Qatar and Saudi Arabia, where participating companies met with local companies and government officials and identified potential deals worth over US$2.5million." concluded Jennings
