ARIJ distributes awards

Amman - Over 200 Arab chief editors, journalists and academics met in Amman to promote investigative journalism across a region that is hardly revered for its freedom of expression and independent media.

Mark Hunter, media and communications professor at INSEAD University of Paris 2 gave the participants tips on advanced investigation writing skills.

The professor was also a main speaker at the network's first conference in the capital late last year.

Participants had the opportunity to look into techniques of using computers in their work, during several workshops on computer-assisted reporting.

The conference offers training sessions in investigating climate change, tracking corruption, advanced writing and interviewing techniques, conducting investigations with limited resources and without freedom of information figured high on the Conference Agenda.

Under the auspices of former Prime Minister Taher Masri ARIJ honored today evening a group of journalists for the for the best three investigating journalists ip completed in 2009 in the print media and audio visual during a ceremony held at the Palace Hotel in Amman.

At the end of the event, ARIJ honored during a ceremony held today evening under the auspices of the Vice-President of the Senate Taher al-Masri group of journalists for the best three investigations survey completed in 2009 in the printing, media, visual, and audio.

Masri handed over the awards to the winners in the presence of Danish ambassador.
