Louvre and National museums sign MoU |

AMMAN (Star)-- French Ambassador in Jordan, Mrs Corinne Breuze, visited the new Jordan National Museum, located in Ras-El-Ain, for a meeting with Mr Faris Nimry, Director of the Jordan National Museum.
Both expressed their will to look forward to widening the spirit of friendship and cooperation long held between Jordan and France in the field of art, archaeology and museology.
The Louvre Museum and the Jordan Museum signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation, last month on October 14.
The Jordan Museum is governed by a board of trustees chaired by HM Queen Rania, and vice chairperson HRH Princess Sumaya Bint El-Hassan. Currently under construction in central Amman, the Jordan Museum aims to be a comprehensive heritage center for the history, civilization and culture of Jordan, a national center of Jordan's historic, antique and heritage property, a developing educational and touristic instrument, and a center to support authorship in the field of antiquities, heritage and modern history.
The Louvre Museum, which is the largest museum in the world, is entrusted to keep, protect, and restore the collections of the French State and to present them to the public, including those at Museum Eugène Delacroix, and the Tuileries Gardens. It works to do so through its vast permanent and ongoing temporary exhibitions, and conducting learning programs and scientific studies related to its collections. The Louvre is also a centre of education, research and training in the fields of history of art, archaeology and museology, in addition to public auditorium management.
The MoU, which was signed by Mr Henri Loyrette, General President-Director of the Louvre, and Dr Nimry, covers the following fields of cooperation:
Conducting research programs in the field of archeology and Islamic history and art;
Defining training programs, communication programs and courses in the field of education;
Providing consultancy related to scientific and cultural projects such as museological management, organization of events and exhibitions, conservation targeting mainly archeological or historical works of the Jordanian heritage;
Exchange of expertise amongst the members of staff of both museums
