'Jawhar Estate' - first phase of AED 2.44 billion Menara district masterplan in Morocco launched

Press Release

Prices for the private residences in the Jawhar Estate will range from AED10.9 million to AED32.7 million

Dubai, November 10th 2009:  'Jawhar Estate' forms the first phase of the AED2.44 billion Menara district masterplan in Marrakech, Morocco and was launched today by UK based development and investment specialist Aerium Atlas Management. The project will be managed by renowned hotel operator Monte-Carlo SBM. Jawhar Estate is government-backed Monte-Carlo SBM's first international project and forms part of Monaco's plans to increase its overseas presence and have mutli-national operations. The prices for the private residences in the Jawhar Estate will range from AED10.9 million to AED32.7 million.

The historic launch of the Jawhar Estate has involved His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco who officiated at a VIP reception to mark the international unveiling of the project.  The project aims to blend the glamour and style of Monte-Carlo with the vibrancy and sophistication of Marrakech, through the creation of - Jawhar Resort, Spa and Private Residences.

Mr Ely Michel Ruimy, Chairman of the Aerium Group comments: "We are privileged to have been afforded this opportunity by the Kingdom of Morocco to develop the Jawhar Estate on this historic site. It is our responsibility to ensure that we fulfil the expectations and deliver to the people of Marrakech an exceptional development that will further enhance the prestige of the city and deliver a legacy for its future."

Mr. Bernard Lambert, Chief Executive Officer of Monte-Carlo SBM comments: "The Jawhar Estate is Monte-Carlo SBM's first resort outside the famous and prestigious Principality of Monaco. We have chosen to work with Aerium and its partners because of the vision, quality and exclusivity of the Jawhar Estate which we believe is unrivalled. Monte-Carlo SBM has a peerless reputation for creating and running five-star hotels, spas and residences in the world famous and glamorous Monte-Carlo and the Jawhar Estate will become Morocco's premier destination. The super-prime residences will join the ranks of London's Knightsbridge, Manhattan's Upper East Side and Hong Kong's The Peak as one of the top-10 addresses in the world."

Scheduled to open in late 2011, the 14 hectare Jawhar Estate (Jawhar means "Jewel" in Arabic), uniquely located in the heart of Marrakech, provides 25 private residences, a 93 all-suite 5-star hotel (Monte-Carlo SBM's first resort outside of Monaco), a top gastronomic restaurant and a Wellness Centre and Spa; the latter drives the character and offering of Jawhar and will adroitly position the resort as the key destination in the rapidly growing global "healthcare tourism" market. Some of the private residences have already been reserved.

The resort's overall design is provided by luxury resort specialists HKS Hill Glazier Studio who are working with Sybille de Margerie of the well known Parisian interior design company SM Design, for the hotel interiors; Amanda Rosa Interiors for the spa interiors; France's foremost landscape design practice Jean Mus et Compagnie; spa operator ESPA and world renowned Jacques Grange who will design the interiors of the 25 private residences.

These unique residences will marry elements of the classic Moroccan home with the latest state-of-the-art entertainment and security systems required for 21st century living. Features will include a media room, gymnasium, hammam, home office, swimming pool, staff accommodation, garage and automatic landscape irrigation for the gardens.
