IKCO targets exporting Peugeot 207

TEHRAN - Iranian carmaker Iran Khodro CompanyIran Khodro CompanyLoading... and France's PeugeotPeugeotLoading... have agreed to produce the Peugeot 207i car in Iran and export it to 63 countries, the IKCOIKCOLoading...'s CEO said on Thursday.

MOJ news agency quoted Javad Najmeddin as saying that the hatchback model of the car will hit markets by the end of the Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2010).

Najmeddin stated that the cars will have a TU5 1600 engine in both automatic and manual transmission models.

The 207 will be mainly exported to Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Belarus, Central Asian countries, North African countries and the Persian Gulf littoral states.

Based on an agreement signed between the two companies, Iran KhodroIran KhodroLoading... will produce PeugeotPeugeotLoading... cars in its factories outside the country and sell them in the market, according to Moj news agency.

""We agreed to build Peugeot 206, 207 and Pars in Iran KhodroIran KhodroLoading... factories in countries such as Venezuela, Senegal and Syria,"" Najmeddin said

The 405 GLX and 405 SLX models will also be produced in these countries, he added.

Najmeddin stated that this agreement shows IKCOIKCOLoading...'s capacity in promoting joint ventures and producing PeugeotPeugeotLoading... brand products in its international factories.

Iran KhodroIran KhodroLoading... is the largest vehicle manufacturing company in Iran, having an average share of 65 percent of domestic vehicle production.

Iran KhodroIran KhodroLoading... has received ISO 9001 from RW-TUV, Germany, as well as many other health, safety, and environment certificates including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
