Cabinet to ban TV coverage of parliament: Al-Barrak

KUWAIT: MPs participating in a seminar held by fellow parliamentarian Khalid Al-Tahous indicated that their voters have played a role in urging their representatives in the parliament to file a "no confidence" motion against interior minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. The MPs said that any failure to pass the motion would be a signal that they were decriminalizing the theft of public funds. They also agreed that numerous critical consequences could result from the upcoming session, which the Kuwaiti
people should familiarize themselves wholly with.

MP Musallam Al-Barrak said that he had presented his grilling motion based on his unhappiness with the minister's actions, describing the Minister of Interior as lacking resolve and confidence. The MP also claimed that the cabinet intends to ban TV broadcasters from covering the parliamentary sessions, in order to continue misleading the public, maintaining that no political figure should be exempt from accountability. He urged the public to seek justice, and open their eyes to see who had preserved politi
cal integrity and who had breached it.

Former candidate Ayed Bukhosah said that certain parties were attempting to cover up the violations that took place by trying to deny the interpolation's legitimacy through accusing it of only aiming to raise tensions for sectarian reasons. He also criticized the interior ministry's request to raise its confidential expenses.

Meanwhile MP Saifi Al-Saifi expressed his anger at the violations mentioned in the first article of the grilling, asserting that while the cabinet will most likely reject proposals to raise retiring citizens' pensions claiming a budget deficit, the Kuwaiti people can clearly see that public money is being wasted in an irresponsible manner by cabinet members.

Al-Tahous urged his fellow MPs to support the 'no confidence' motion, saying that the double standards shown by the government were a primary reason for doing so, reported Al-Qabas. He also questioned the justification given for the installation of surveillance cameras in the 'Wellness Yard' outside the parliament building.
