Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition Targets $4 billion GCC Pharmaceutical Market

The 14th round of Dubai International Pharmaceutical and Technologies Conference and Exhibition "DUPHAT" will be staged under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Minister of Finance, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of Dubai Health Authority. This medical, scientific, and educational event scheduled from 29 to 31 March 2009 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center. INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions Organization Establishment member of INDEX Holding in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority and in association with Ministry of Health of the UAE organizes DUPHAT. Industry exhibitors and related services providers at DUPHAT target the GCC and MENA region lucrative Pharmaceutical market, which exceeds $4 billion and grows at an average rate of 10 percent annually. The Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition have evolved to be one of the most important annual pharmaceutical events since its inception in 1995.

DUPHAT has gained the support of local regional and international professional and educational institutions in the Pharmaceutical industry. They include American Society of Health System Pharmacists, European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences, European Society of Clinical Pharmacists, and Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia.  International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology, Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE), Utrecht University, The Netherlands, European Society of Oncology Pharmacy, and Monash University are also actively involved in the organization of DUPHAT.  This high profile scientific gathering will enable participants to meet and interact with the professionals in pharmacy science and providing continuing medical education. The exhibition will reveal avant-garde technologies.

The pharmaceutical market in the Gulf is growing rapidly as the volume of the pharmaceutical market exceeded $4 billion in 2007and is growing at 10% annually , which is almost twice higher than the growth rate of the global pharmaceutical market. The UAE is almost a net importer of Pharmaceutical products. Imports  account for more than 90% of the pharmaceutical market. In to lessen dependence on imports from the international markets governments in the GCC are encouraging the private sector to invest in this important industry .

DUPHAT 2009 is an ideal avenue for industry interaction to discuss and review the changes and developments in the Pharmaceutical sector. The 3-days dynamic program incorporates conference presentations, scientific workshops, technology exhibitions, and poster presentations. DUPHAT 2009 scientific program is committed to tackle new challenges confronting the pharmaceutical industry worldwide. The conference will also focus on the exchanges concerning various aspects in the science of pharmacy.
