Of at total of 36,000 voters from across the region an astounding 23,400 voted the Audi A5 "The People's Choice Car of the Year" from a selection of 81 contestants at the 2008 Autocar Awards. The Audi A4, one of the most important volume models for Audi, claimed a further two awards in the annual industry awards, making for a total of four awards for the manufacturer with the four rings in 2008. The Audi A4 was named "Compact Executive of the Year" by Car Middle East and "Luxury Car of the Year" of the Autocar Middle East.
Jeff Mannering, Managing Director of Audi Middle East, accepted the awards stating "The 'Peoples Choice Car of the Year' award is the highest honor we could wish for. We strive to produce great cars, but only our customers and fans can make us winners." He continued "Following last year's huge success with six awards in total, many of which for the Audi R8, we are very proud to see that Audi can also ignite this passion in the smaller segments."
