Dubai, UAE 10th June 2008: Shift Technologies, a pioneering IT and Business consulting firm, today announced the confirmation of the region's first TOGAF™ 8 certified practitioners training from The Open Group.

Delegates from The National Bank of Dubai, the Ministry of Labor and GASCO were among the first in the region to have successfully completed the course conducted by Abdallah El-Kadi of Shift Technologies, The Open Group's only certified training partner in the Middle East.

TOGAF™ - The Open Group Architecture Framework - is becoming well-established as the de facto standard for developing and implementing enterprise architecture and business-IT alignment worldwide with over 5600 certified practitioners. As such, many organizations are already using the popular TOGAF™ approach for the design, planning, implementation and governance of Enterprise Architecture.

Enterprise Architecture is an emerging strategy and business driven activity devoted to improving the performance of organizations. It supports management planning and decision making by providing a holistic and integrated view of the entire enterprise.

"The TOGAF™ course we run is conducted by experienced enterprise architects with vast practical architecture experience. It includes case studies and hands on exercises for key concepts within each of the Architecture Development Method (ADM) phases", said El Kadi.

He added: "In addition, we share with our attendees professional templates and demo related sample work by leveraging the experience of our leading consulting practice, so as to provide tangible methods that may be applied to accelerate the adoption of TOGAF™" at the participating organizations".

The TOGAF™ certification process requires students to take a class or a test, but does not require previous experience. As an open standard, TOGAF™ avoids vendor lock-in that sometimes accompanies professional services. Organizations that have their own methodologies are starting to discover the advantages of using TOGAF™.

The Advantages of TOGAF™ 8:

  • Internationally recognized certification in enterprise architecture
  • Improve business/IT alignment.
  • Enable effective change management.
  • Enhance decision making.
  • Improve communication across organization units.
  • Enhance Technology rationalization.
  • Improve Solution delivery time.
  • Entitled to membership of the Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects
