Environment, Health and Safety participates in Dubai International Food Safety Conference |

Dubai- February 23, 2008: EHS, the Environment, Health and Safety arm of Trakhees, Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, is taking part in Dubai International Food Safety Conference, which is due to be held on Sunday (Feb. 24, 2008) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance and Industry.

, this forum offers delegates a unique opportunity to interact with leading regional and international food safety experts, exchange ideas and gain insights into current food safety issues and the latest developments in the food laws, safety regulations and food risks assessment techniques.
The EHS considers food safety a key priority and has built strategic partnerships with all parties concerned - food importers, exporters and the public - with an aim to enhance efficiency and transparency in food regulatory systems.
State of the art technological advancements have been introduced with regards to control and inspection of food firms, greatly enhancing the Food Control Department. Electronic inspection machines connected to the internal system are used in line with the development plan applied to all administrative departments.
The System has also resulted in improved food control techniques in the ports and Jebel Ali Free ZoneJebel Ali Free Zone
, connecting all the operations related to inspecting and controlling food imported and handled in Dubai WorldDubai World
, starting from entry of food to its transportation, distribution, storage, manufacturing and supply, thus keeping traders informed about the food consignments and respective procedures.
Foodstuff is subject to physical inspection by a team of experts and technicians in the field of food industry and safety, in order to ensure the fulfillment of food label requirements and the related particulars and details, with the aim to provide the best health conditions possible for all the Free Zone and Dubai WorldDubai World
's clients. Microbial and chemical food samples are also drawn and radioactivity monitored for lab tests.
