Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... introduces CNG to Dubai for the first time
Dubai, 9 January 2008: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), an acclaimed fuel of the future, has been introduced to Dubai by Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading..., a subsidiary of ENOCENOCLoading..., in partnership with the Road Transport AuthorityRoad Transport AuthorityLoading.... The new fuel substantially reduces exhaust emissions to reduce pollutants such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and other ozone depleting substances.

Commenting on the unveiling of ENOCENOCLoading...'s most recent environmental initiative, Saeed Khoory, ENOCENOCLoading... Group Chief Executive said: "As a socially responsible company, ENOCENOCLoading... is committed to finding ways to combat the ever-increasing problem of pollution. This is a major step forward in protecting the environment and enhancing the ecological framework within the UAE."

"We have set an unprecedented benchmark with Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... introducing CNG to Dubai by converting three Abras from diesel engines to CNG powered engines. With the success of the initial trial runs, we are now looking at opportunities to popularise the fuel of the future through development of appropriate infrastructure and converting more consumers from other fuels to CNG."

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is now fast becoming an alternative fuel to the traditional petrol and diesel fuels and many countries around the world are promoting the use of CNG in vehicles. "Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... has forged ahead with the development of infrastructure for the use of CNG in the Emirate of Dubai through the first mobile filling station," remarked Hesham Ali Mustafa, General Manager, Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading.... "It is our endeavour to initiate and develop suitable gas based applications which are environmental friendly and hence we had proposed the CNG project for the Abras with the RTA," he added.

It is estimated that Dubai will soon have access to a substantial quantity of natural gas. Taking this into consideration, Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... has already carried out a feasibility study for a natural gas pipeline network in the newly developing areas of Dubai and is considering various alternative applications of gas.

"Having taken the lead in bringing CNG to Dubai, Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... looks at the opportunity of popularizing the 'fuel of the future' through development of appropriate infrastructure and converting more consumers from other fuels to CNG based on the availability of natural gas. This will promote a cleaner Dubai and promote healthy living," added Mustafa.

In addition to CNG, Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... has always been in the forefront to experiment and use alternative technologies for making Dubai and UAE a better place to live. Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... also produces a product called Emirates Gas Aerosol Propellant (EGAP) which is a substitute for ozone depleting Chlorofluorocarbons(CFC)s used in aerosol applications like perfumes, air fresheners etc. CFC's are due to be phased as they harm the environment and EGAP presents a very viable alternative and Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... was the first to commission the processing plant for Aerosol products in the Gulf region and is a major supplier for various industries.

Liquified petroleum gas (LPG) which is the major product of Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... has excellent combustion properties and is used as a major automotive fuel around the globe and is also considered a green fuel. Emirates GasEmirates GasLoading... has previously pioneered the use of LPG in automobiles during the 1980's. However with the expected thrust to be given for Natural Gas usage in the coming future, CNG would be an ideal fuel to promote considering the large gas reserves in the UAE and in the region, concluded Mustafa.
