AI starts Nagpur-Dubai flights

Budget airline Air India Express yesterday said it has started flights from the central Indian city of Nagpur to Dubai to tap latent demand in the sector.

The thrice a week Air India Express flight will also stop at Mumbai, India's financial capital, Air India Express said in a statement. Air India Express is a unit of national carrier Air India, which plans to make Nagpur a cargo hub.

Air India and Air India Express along with Air India Cargo are run by the recently formed National Aviation Company of India, which was created after the merger of two state-run airlines.

Meanwhile, Qatar AirwaysQatar AirwaysLoading... launched scheduled flights to Nagpur marking the airline's seventh destination in India.

Qatar AirwaysQatar AirwaysLoading... is the only full-service scheduled international airline from the Middle East flying to Nagpur.

The launch of twice-weekly flights between Doha and Nagpur takes the airline's burgeoning network across India to 44 services a week. The Nagpur route is being operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft in a two-class configuration of 12 seats in Business Class and 132 in Economy.

Qatar AirwaysQatar AirwaysLoading... is one of the largest foreign airlines serving India with flights to seven cities Nagpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Trivandrum, Cochin and Hyderabad.

With the launch of daily flights between Doha and Gujarat state's largest city of Ahmedabad in western India starting on December 12, Qatar AirwaysQatar AirwaysLoading... will reach a milestone 51 services a week.
