Traditional Arabian coffees and delicious pastries offered for customers in the holy month
Manama; September 13, 2007 - In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Starbucks launched today the Date Frappuccino®, the first localised beverage to be specially created for customers across all stores in the Middle East.
Available for one month only during the holy month, the Date Frappuccino® deliciously combines date juice - the favourite Arab festive fruit - with Starbucks finest coffee beans, blended with milk and ice and topped with a swirl of rich cream and date drizzle giving it a distinguished traditional Arabic taste.
"Our delicious new beverage is the first culturally localised beverage to be created for the Middle East and we are proud to present this new handcrafted infusion specially made to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan in the Arab world," said Antoun Abou Jaoude, Marketing Manager for Starbucks Coffee Middle East.
To complement the Date Frappuccino®, Starbucks has created mouth-watering pastries that pair excellently with the beverage. These include Pistachio Date Cake, a delicious combination of rich cream cheese and sweet date, nestled between crunchy layers of pistachio biscuit, and the Almond & Date Delight, a sweet treat of almond crust stuffed with a rich date puree topped with sprinkles of icing sugar crumbles.
"We are committed to surprising and delighting our customers through innovative products. The new Date Frappuccino® reflects a beverage that has been created for the first time specifically for our Middle East customers and we hope it is enjoyed throughout Ramadan," added Abou Jaoude.
Starbucks is also introducing a selection of traditional Arabian coffees in the Middle East during this season including Arabian Mocha Timor - complex and medium bodied with a clean finish, an exotic blend of Arabian Mocha Sanani and East Timor coffees offering delicious, upfront berry notes. In addition, Starbucks will be offering the remarkable Arabian Mocha Sanani - a profound single origin coffee with spicy, berry notes, and the Arabian Mocha Java - a blend of distinction which complements cranberry, chocolate or orange flavours. All the special Arabian coffees are offered to Middle East customers only for a limited period.
