Jordan Promotes Contact Centers and Outsourcing Industry at GITEX

Dubai, UAE, 9th September 2007- As part of Jordan's delegation participating at Gitex, the largest ICT trade show in the Middle East, a press conference was held at DICEC yesterday September 9th. The conference was attended, on behalf of His Excellency Basim Al Roussan, the Jordanian Minister of Information and Communications Technology, by Nidal Qanadilo, Director of ICT Investment and Promotion. Sabri Tabbaa, CEO of the Information Technology Association of JordanInformation Technology Association of JordanLoading... (int@j) also attended, as well as representatives of 10 Jordanian companies participating at Gitex under the int@j umbrella.

Qanadilo reiterated that the Ministry of Information and Communications TechnologyMinistry of Information and Communications TechnologyLoading... will continue to help Jordan to emerge as a preferred outsourcing destination across the region. In 2005 and in line with His Majesty's directives, Jordan established a dedicated call center initiative to facilitate the development of this industry and align the investment environment with competitors.

He added, "Jordan offers all the right ingredients for a successful and vibrant outsourcing industry, such as our capable workforce at competitive cost as well as the country's robust technology infrastructure". He also added that "this can only be achieved through an effective public-private partnership that leverages each sector's strengths and areas of influence to ensure economic sustainability."

Sabri Tabbaa, int@j's CEO commented, "int@j works closely with the MOICT to achieve the objectives of the ICT National strategy 2007-2011. We are working diligently on implementing a Research and Development (R&D) fund that will be supported by deducting a tax from telecommunication companies to support startups and incubated projects."

The Information Technology Association of JordanInformation Technology Association of JordanLoading... is an ICT industry-support association that embraces Jordan's ICT businesses, with a mission to promote their advancement on a local and international level, and enhance their capacity and performance; it has supported 10 Jordanian companies' participation at Gitex this year.

KETAB TechnologiesKETAB TechnologiesLoading..., which is fully supported by int@j at Gitex, is a Jordanian startup company named one of the five most promising high technology startup companies according to the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF), the Arab Business Challenge and the MIT business plan competition. int@j's particular interest in Ketab stems in its achieving the 1st place in the contest held by iPark, Jordan's technology incubator.

int@j was host for its first Business-to-Business match-making Cocktail Reception that took place yesterday at Madinat Jumeira, Mina Al-Salam Ballroom. The reception was attended by a number of prominent dignitaries and high-level businessmen from the private and public sectors who engaged in one-on-one business introductions and future cooperation exchange.

The Jordanian delegation at Gitex comprised of 10 different participating companies including: CrysTelCall the first Jordanian independent multilingual call center; Rubicon, Jordan's pioneer in interactive multimedia, 2D & 3D animation, whose creative and technical competencies have allowed its work international acclaim; GlobitelGlobitelLoading..., that provides innovative solutions to telecommunication service providers, offering a wide variety of product lines; Generic, a leader in high-performance IT services and solutions, delivering a complete range of extremely efficient application and multimedia development solutions; Fourth Dimension Systems, a leading IT Solutions provider in the Middle East; TAKAMALL, a global provider of Management, Software & Internet Solutions; Digital Document Solutions, who is specialized in delivering IT Solutions covering Knowledge Management, workflow, and Business Process Management; MENAITECH, the first software company in the Arab region to specialize in the development and distribution of Human Resources Solutions, and Sanaya ME, who is specialized in staffing solutions, corporate training and business consultancy servicing.

Another Jordanian company, Optimiza, is also showcasing its success story through a booth at Gitex. Optimiza is the first Arab company that was born from the merger of nine companies, thus setting a precedent and paving the way for more M&As in this sector across the Middle East.
