Lobby firms help Dubai Aerospace Enterprise in US |

US lobbyists and public relations consultants are helping Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE)Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE)
to successfully complete its $1.8 billion (Dh6.6bn) acquisition of the Carlyle GroupCarlyle Group
's aviation businesses, according to a report. At least four leading firms have registered to advocate on DAEDAE
's behalf, both on Capitol Hill and with the administration, said The Hill, a congressional newspaper that publishes daily when US Congress is in session.
In May, the Federal Trade Commission, the US antitrust regulating agency, cleared the DAEDAE
deal.
Two firms, the Glover Park Group and Quinn Gillespie and Associates, disclosed they each could earn more than $200,000 (Dh734,000), plus expenses, starting this March, according to contracts filed with the Justice Department.
The other firms, the MWW Group and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher and Flom, have not disclosed their potential earnings, according to public records.
DAEDAE
is facing tough scrutiny under its review by the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS).
Republican Carolyn Maloney has expressed confidence that CFIUS's review of the DAEDAE
deal would be "thorough". CFIUS is a group of agencies chaired by the Treasury Department that reviews foreign purchases of US companies for their security implications.
"We welcome a full and thorough investigation and will work with the CFIUS agencies as the process progresses to answer any questions or address any concerns that they may have," a DAEDAE
spokesperson told Emirates Today.
DAEDAE
has been "more open" in its approach to acquire the aviation companies - Standard Aero Holdings and Landmark Aviation, said The Hill newspaper.
By placing certain assets in a trust, DAEDAE
has demonstrated its "understanding of potential security and political sensitivities by ensuring there is no interface between the business and commercial aircraft or airfield operations", according to a memo issued by Glover Park.
