Sharjah Municipality announces the 6 winning gardens of the Most Beautiful Home Garden competition

Sharjah, May 30, 2007: Sharjah MunicipalitySharjah MunicipalityLoading... announced the names of the 6 winning gardens in the competition for the Most Beautiful Home Garden. The event was launched in March, marking the beginning of Forestation Week, which began on the March 27th.

The competition was limited to 13 home gardens in Sharjah, 6 of which won the cash prize from the Municipality.

H.E. Doctor Salah Tahir Al Haj, General Manager of the Municipality, handed the prizes and appreciation certificates to the owners of the 6 winning gardens in addition to the Dhs. 10,000 cash prize for each owner. He stated that the competition aims to encourage interest in gardening and various types of flowers, as an initial step to preserve the cleanliness and beauty of the environment.

The winning home gardens are:

Mr. Ahmed Salem Al Salman's home garden in the Al Ramaqia area, for the category of developing mixed style home gardens.

Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Hussain's home garden in the Tarafana area, for the category of pioneering and developing home gardens in the geometric pattern.

Mr. Khalid Saed Al Suwaidi's home garden in the Al Khalidia area, in the category of the geometric pattern of the home garden.

Mr. Ibrahim Abd Allah Ahmed's home garden in the Al Ramaqia area, in the category of the mixed geometric pattern and natural design.

Mr. Abd Alaziz Al Mualla's home garden in the Al Gazat area, for the natural pattern category.

Mr. Hana Ramzi Jabir in Al Hazana area, on the free creative pattern category.

Mr. Abd Allah Al Shuwaikh, Head of Sharjah MunicipalitySharjah MunicipalityLoading...'s Public Relations Division and member of the Arbitration Commission, stated that choosing the winning gardens was not easy due to the creatively designed home gardens which incorporated geometric designs and unique flower arrangements. However, the committee was dedicated to accurately choose the most beautiful home garden.

Al Shuwaikh added that the competition aims to encourage Sharjah residents to pay attention to the vital role forestation and the plants in preserving the environment and fighting pollution. The Municipality hopes to further promote interest in gardening in various homes and gardens, regardless of the permitted areas.

Most importantly, the competition has opened the door for residents who wish to participate and to add their names to a list in the Public Relations Division in Sharjah MunicipalitySharjah MunicipalityLoading.... The list allows a highly specialized committee from the Municipality to view and evaluate gardens according to the standards of general appearance, arrangements, plant variety, geometric pattern, areas, lanes, seating, water features and umbrellas.

Eng. Ali Salem Almotawa, Head of the Parks and Gardens Division, oversees the Arbitration Commission. The commission was formed by Eng. D. Atif Darwish (Head of the Planning Division in the Technical Department), Eng. Safa Yasin Safa (Head of the Agricultural Section) and Mr. Abdallah Al Shuwaikh (Head of the Public Relations Division).
