Saudi Arabia: King, Crown Prince in Jizan Sunday

JEDDAH: King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for a number of developmental, services, economic and tourist projects worth more than SR7 billion during his visit to Jizan on Sunday. The Monarch will grace a reception party by the region's people and attend a ceremony to inaugurate a package of developmental projects vital for the region, said Prince Mohammed Bin Nasser Bin Abdul Aziz, the Emir of the Jizan Region.
King Abdullah, who is also Chairman of the King Abdullah Foundation, is additionally scheduled to inaugurate a housing project of the foundation for needy citizens. The project, costing some SR100 million, consists of 307 housing units, from which at least 2,064 people will benefit.Prince Mohammed expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan for their "door-to-door policy" to attend to the needs of the people all over the Kingdom, which was first adopted by the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, the late King Abdul Aziz.
The agency reported that King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan performed Friday prayers in congregation at Al-Fara mosque in Abha.
Sheikh Muhammed Al-Majed, who led the prayers, stressed in his Friday sermon the innumerable blessings bestowed by Allah on His creatures in return for worshipping Him alone.
Minister of Higher Education Khaled Muhammad Al-Anqari underlined the unlimited care given by King Abdullah for higher education, saying that this stems from his personal conviction that education is an important tool for the development and progress of the world's societies and nations.
"Evidence for this care is the King's inauguration for several university campuses in Hail, Qassim, Madina, Taif, Baha and Najran in addition his foundation of the King Abdullah University for Science and Technology," said Anqari.
On the occasion of laying the foundation stone for the university campus in Abha, Anqari said the higher-education projects being carried out in the different parts of the Kingdom during the fiscal year 2006-2007 exceeded SR12 billion.
Anqari is optimistic that the new fiscal year 2007-2008 will bear lots of blessings to the Kingdom's citizens, not only in the educational sector but in all other vital sectors, saying that the university campus project in Abha exemplifies the gigantic educational projects being carried out in different parts of the Kingdom.
He said the SR3-billion campus comprised deanship premises, an educational hospital, the university's central library and an auditorium, in addition to 15 colleges for men and women.
King Abdullah is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the first phase of the technical college in Jizan, which will cost a total of SR100 million, according to Rashed Muhammed Al-Zahrani, the College's principal. Zahrani pointed out that the decision to build the college comes to cope with comprehensive development witnessed by the region in all walks of life.
