ABU DHABI -- First Choice Airways, the UK's leading leisure airlines, has selected Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco) for the heavy maintenance and modification of six aircrafts of their Boeing 767-300 fleet.
Under a contract, Gamco will provide maintenance, modification, cabin upgrade, entertainment system enhancement and other works for First Choice B767's fleet.
On the first aircraft under this contract Gamco have successfully installed in-flight entertainment, enhanced cabin configuration and mood lightening systems for added passenger comfort.
First Choice Airways currently is operating a fleet of 32 aircraft from 15 UK airports, flying six million passengers every year to around 60 destinations worldwide, including the Indian Ocean, Mexico and Caribbean, Florida and resorts across Europe and the Mediterranean.
First Choice Airways plan to challenge the boundaries of charter airline long haul products by introducing new look Boeing 767s. Fitted with Boeing's 777-style signature interior, the aircraft will offer: enhanced legroom of 36" in Star Class Premium class and 33" in Star Class, ground-breaking seat back in-flight entertainment with up to 30 channels on 9" wide screen TVs in Star Class Premium and up to 20 channels on 7" wide screen TVs in Star Class, to be one of the first to offer digital in-flight information and entertainment.
Commenting on the agreement, GAMCO's General Manager Saif Al Mughairy said: "I am glad to see our highly efficient and extremely flexible aircraft maintenance capabilities meet and exceed First Choice's high expectations. We are proud to be associated with First Choice Airways and contribute to their continuous success".
Mark German, First Choice Maintenance Manager said," Having been personally involved with the maintenance and modification of this aircraft, I have good understanding of the effort and dedication required to embody a modification of this magnitude. Gamco has clearly demonstrated that they have the resources, capability and resolve required, to meet both Management and Customer expectations as a leading Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation."
"We contracted Gamco because it offers First Choice exactly what it needs: absolute reliability, short downtimes, a flexible approach to unexpected events and quality workmanship -- all at a reasonable price," he added.BY A STAFF REPORTER
