HYATT INTERNATIONAL TO MANAGE THE EQUESTRIAN CLUB COMPLEX INCORPORATING PARK HYATT JEDDAH OPENING LATE 2005

Press Release

Jeddah, KSA, November 2, 2003 – Al Montazahah Company, the owning company of the Equestrian Club of Jeddah, whose founding shareholders are Sheikh Abdullah Al RUSHAID, Aal Taher Group represented by Sheikh Tarek TAHER and Bouygues Batiment International, has appointed HYATT International as Manager of the Equestrian Club including the luxury PARK HYATT Jeddah. The Construction of the complex will commence in December 2003.

Slated to open in late 2005, this groundbreaking property will be the  first exquisite boutique style hotel in the country.  As part of a stunning multi-faceted complex that includes the current Equestrian Club, a future marina, a large convention and banqueting complex and a Baleneo Therapy Centre, the Park Hyatt will also be the first hotel in Jeddah to offer unrestricted access to the seafront. Hyatt will assume the management in November 2003 of the Equestrian Club Men’s Social Club Facilities.

This innovative project is an impressive engineering feat that reclaimed an expanse of prime waterfront property from the Red Sea, while retaining the delicate balance of the surrounding marine life.

The 120,000 m2 complex is situated within the esteemed Al Hamra district of Jeddah’s Southern Corniche, offering a sweeping vista of the Red Sea and the King Fahd Fountain with its 260 metre high plume of water (a near duplicate of Geneva’s renowned Jet d’Eau).

The commercial and financial districts, as well as the main shopping and entertainment areas of Jeddah, are nearby, making the development an ideal launching point from which visitors can easily conduct business or explore more leisurely pursuits.

Al Montazahah Company Ltd, appointed Bouygues Batiment, one of the world’s largest construction and real estate development companies, to be the general contractor and developer of Park Hyatt Jeddah. With such a magnificent backdrop, a French Architect has designed a hotel that captures the breathtaking surrounding panoramas without competing against them; this is an understated luxury hotel built to accommodate its guests in effortless comfort.  The property will be spectacularly landscaped with a variety of botanical life, water ponds, areas of sand and grass, and walkways, canopied by palm trees and cooled by sea breezes.

Park Hyatt hotels are intimate and residential in style, noted for their prime locations, exceptional interior design, works of art and the highest levels of personalized service. Park Hyatt Jeddah will be no exception: a feeling of sanctuary will be created in the142 generously sized guestrooms and suites.  In addition to the remarkable comfort factor, a French Interior Designer fashioned rooms that fuse a sleek European style with an Arab-Andalusian ambience.

Each room will offer homey comforts such as walk-in closets, as well as a host of high tech business gadgetry. Lavish spa bathrooms are key to the luxury-sanctuary design concept and will include indulgences such as deep-soak baths and splendid rain showers.

A central lobby lounge will be the place to gather with friends or hold informal meetings.  Guests can choose between the cooled interiors or the sunny terrace for breakfast, light fare and drinks.

A chic restaurant will offer the finest in “freestyle cuisine” – a concept that combines an excellent chef, a dynamic menu based on organic seasonal ingredients and a good dose of innovation.  The result is a dining experience that is simple, delicious and exhilarating, not intimidating.  The restaurant will seat 85 guests indoors and a further 170 guests on the terrace.

Adjacent to the Park Hyatt, a Banquet and Conference Centre will cover over 2000m2 and may be accessed via a dedicated entrance.  This elegant facility is set to play host to wedding parties, product launches, corporate meetings and conferences for upwards of 800 guests.  Incorporating up to the minute multi-media and lighting technology, a prime location and housing a private car park, the Banquet and Conference Centre is sure to become a focus point of Jeddah’s business and social scene.  Moreover, The Equestrian Club’s sweeping seafront garden areas will be beautifully illuminated and will also be able to host unique out-door events for up to 800 people.

The Equestrian Club will offer an impressive 4500m2 array of sports and leisure pursuits divided into separate men’s and women’s areas including the region’s first Balneotherapy Centres.  Dating back 5000 years to the Bronze Age, Balneotherapy is a popular holistic therapy in Japan and Europe that utilises hot springs, mineral or sea waters to revitalise the body and alleviate a plethora of circulatory and stress related ailments.   An extensive and exotic range of Eastern and Western massage therapies and treatments will also be on offer.

Both the men’s and women’s facilities will house fitness centres, indoor pools, squash and tennis courts, steam rooms, cold plunge baths, medical pools, cosmetic treatment areas, relaxation lounges and cafes or restaurants.  Additionally, the women’s facility will also house a shopping area, hair and beauty salons and an outdoor pool and children’s area.    The Men’s Centre also includes a mini theatre, a business centre with four offices and a meeting room, a reading room, a billiard room and table tennis.  A communal Family Club/Restaurant will link the men’s and women’s facilities.

Non-Hyatt managed facilities will include a harbourside Commercial Gallery with a host of prestigious boutiques and a marina that can berth 200 boats of 8-25 metres in length.  The marina will offer a main quay, a floating walkway, secondary pontoons, boarding facilities and fueling stations.  Diving and sailing facilities are likely to be developed in the future.
