Kuwait restricts imports of anti-ozone materials -- official |

DOHA, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is keen on restricting imports of materials that could be harmful to the ozone, a visiting Kuwaiti official affirmed on Thursday.
Director-General of the Public Environment Authority Ali Haidar said in a statement addressed to the eight-party conference for the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, that started here two days ago, Kuwait's keenness in this regard was in line with its approval of the Montreal Protcol of 1992.
He added that the National Committee for Protectio of the Ozone Layer had been granted awards of appreciation from the US Environmental Protection Authority for its accomplishments since its founding in 1996.
Kuwait's signing of the international protocols for the protection of the environment reflected the leaders' strong belief in enhancing the national participation at international gatherings for that purpose.
More than 150 states are taking part in the conference.-
