Dubai The Dubai Super Sixes which emerged as the most popular cricket tournament of the last year with legends of the game playing alongside corporate teams will be held again this year with a new name and new format.
The tournament has been named Gulf Super Sixes and will be a round-robin event unlike the first edition which followed a knock-out format. Announcing the second edition, Wasim Akram, the legendary pacer who is the brand ambassador of the event said: “The popularity of this tournament is such that it will soon prove that the event is better than the popular Hong Kong sixes. The event is special because UAE is a place where expatriates from all countries live and they all get to play as part of the corporate teams.”
Last year the event had 48 corporate teams. “This year we may have more teams. We want the event to grow and have given a new slogan ‘Go all out’. It will be exciting action from December 2 to the grand finale on December 16,” said Arshad Zaheer, the Managing Director of Crayons Communications, the organisers of the event.
Entries for the tournament close on October 30 and teams can contact Denzil Fernandez on 056-7093231 and 050-6586675.
