Security forces round up 16 people for various crimes

BEIRUT: Security personnel rounded up 16 people over the weekend for various crimes, security sources said. Two Leba nese were arrested in Baalbek Friday for fraud and impersonating members of political parties to collect money for charitable causes. On the same day, a Palestinian was arrested in Tyre for tampering with drivers licenses of rented cars in order to sell the vehicles, the sources added. Four Lebanese were arrested Saturday for car theft and smuggling cars from Beirut and Mount Lebanon to the Bekaa, while two Palestinians were also arrested for car theft on the same day, the sources said. Three Lebanese were arrested for fraud Saturday and four others for drug trafficking and possession. – The Daily Star
