International aerobatics teams have started showing interest in the Al Ain Aerobatics Show 2006, and the Royal Jordanian Falcons have confirmed their participation.

World aerobatics and flying daredevils will return to Al Ain to perform their breathtaking stunts in January when the five-day show takes place at Al Ain International Airport.

An official of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, the organisers, yesterday said preparations for the air show have begun. The show will be held from January 11 to 15.

"We have been constructing a new look site for the show, with changes to the family entertainment area, sponsors chalets, exhibition stands and VIP area," said a spokesperson for the authority.

A delegation of the show organisers has recently participated in the celebrations marking the centenary of the Federation Aeronautique International that were held recently in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The authority has been conducting a dedicated promotional campaign for the show in various countries.

Its team also recently participated in the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), the biggest military air show in the United Kingdom, and in the world aviation celebration show called the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Airventure in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in the United States.

The spokesperson said the Royal Jordanian Falcons are famous for their exciting aerobatic manoeuvres using four Extra 300 aircraft. They will be performing in Al Ain for the second time.

The organisers are currently coordinating with UAE government departments interested in participating in the event.

The show aims to promote Abu Dhabi emirate and Al Ain city as leading tourist destinations in the Middle East.

The air show is being organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Promotion Authority and the UAE Air Force and Air Defence.

The Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Air College in Al Ain will provide technical support and facilities for the show.

The show will be held under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
