This attraction, set up by the National Council of Culture, Arts and Heritage, with the aim of giving an insight into the Qatari culture, is located on the Third Level of the City Center Doha.
The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Mohammed Al Meer, Board Member of Qatar Tourism Authority, Gary Mason, Acting Director General of the Qatar Tourism Authority, Mohammed Essa Al Jaber, Manager of the Culture and Arts Department at the NCCAH. "It has been a great start to Qatar Summer Wonders. This event will be one not too be missed and the many smiles on the faces of people here show that they agree," said Gary Mason, after the opening ceremony.
The Qatari Heritage Village, through the month, will showcase various facets of the Qatari life, from traditional clothing that young girls wear, to the delicious local dates that will be offered free to all visitors, Kahwa, the popular local coffee and traditional food as well as free henna drawings.
Samples of Arabian essences were given away for all visitors. "This is a wonderful example of Qatari culture and hospitality and we are very proud to be taking part in this year's festival," said Mohammed Essa Al Jaber.
A Qatari folklore band, performing some traditional arts, added to the feel of a village. He troupe performed many traditional songs to large audience of festival-goers. All visitors left with complimentary gift reflecting local culture as well as long-lasting memories of an evening full of culture, color and fun.
"Judging by the audience's enthusiasm tonight, the Qatari Heritage Village will likely be a very popular program in the Qatar Summer Wonders "Around the World in 30 Days" festival," a senior QTA official, said.
