Press Release

MUSCAT HOTEL VOTED THIRD BEST OMANI EMPLOYER

Release date:20th October, 2002

The Radisson SAS Hotel emerged third in a “Best Companies to Work with in 2002” survey conducted by the premier monthly magazine, Business Today in conjunction with Simpa Marketing Research and Consultancy.

The areas of the survey, which were used to measure job satisfaction among employees of over 30 Oman based companies, included empowerment, satisfaction, work life balance, leadership, company image, career development, client service and knowledge management. The Radisson SAS Hotel, which is participating for the second consecutive year, secured a ranking in all the parameters, featuring in the top five lists in every category.

The hotel which was the highest ranking hospitality industry company also secured third position in the ‘Best company for Omanis to work’, ‘Best company for Expatriates’ and the ‘Best Company for Women’ and ranked strongly in job satisfaction & empowerment.

“This year, we have taken the initiative to focus on empowerment, responsibility and freedom for the individual where the employee can make decisions, be proactive and improve processes wherever possible,” said Torbjörn Bodin, General Manager of the first class hotel.

Leading a diverse team of 20 different nationalities speaking 38 languages, Bodin said that a number of schemes have been implemented to recognise employees and show appreciation for role models. Employees are encouraged to perform well in their given tasks as well as add value to customer services.

“We have also launched a responsible business programme which should help our involvement in environmental and social issues.”

Besides clinching a place among the top three, the hotel was also the youngest among the featured top ten best employers. Bodin, who is of the firm belief that happy employees play a vital role in an organisation’s success, said: “ The employee is definitely our greatest asset. Making this more than a slogan helps us be in the forefront of the business.”

Bank Muscat topped the survey as the preferred overall employer in Oman, followed by Oman United Agencies, a food, beverage and travel services provider.
