As part of an ongoing a campaign to raise awareness about the rights of expatriate workers, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs has asked employers to give a weekly off day to workers on Fridays.

Quoting article No. 75 of the Labour Law, the Ministry said on its Twitter account that "every worker must get a weekly rest from the work. It must be minimum 24 consecutive hours and fully paid. Friday shall be the weekly rest day for all workers except shift workers."

According to Article No. 78 of Labour Law, a worker deserves 10 fully-paid off days on different occasions. These include three days for Eid Al Fit, three days for Eid Al Adha and one day on the National Day.

The remaining three days would be announced by the employers.
