Expected Decision

We expect the MPC to leave the floor and ceiling policy rates unchanged on 5 November at 8.25% and 9.75%, respectively. If so, this will be the first time the MPC opts for a pause since it started cutting rates in February 2009.

We expect the MPC statement to continue to highlight the ongoing shift in global growth and inflation dynamics for the second meeting in a row and reiterate that the current policy stance is appropriate.
