Kia Motors posts 39.5% increase in February global sales

Kia Motors Corporation announced today its global sales figures for passenger cars (export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants), recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles for February 2010, recording a total of 143,267 units sold. This figure represents a year-on-year increase of 39.5%.

The Consumer Protection Department of the UAE Ministry of Economy, today, instructed car dealers in Dubai and Northern Emirates that any safety defects noticed in cars must be reported within 24 hours. Other routine complaints must be brought to the attention of the Department within 14 days.

the international economic crisis was felt in the Gulf state?s economy; plunging oil prices in the latter half

of 2008 and early 2009 had a serious effect on the country?s income, while tightening credit also curtailed

economic growth. The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) estimates that the country slid into recession, in

2009, with BMI estimating a 2.4% contraction.
