Dubai, UAE: As a first of its kind initiative to present Dubai as a potential business investment destination in the region for US businesses, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry is hosting a large group of American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) heads at the US-Dubai 2010: Executive Business Leaders Mission to Dubai from March 7 to 11.

The visit is seen as an opportunity to enhance trade ties between the trading communities and to re-affirm the status of Dubai as a popular investment destination for American businessmen. The visiting delegation, comprising of 45 top officials of major American chambers, is headed by Dave Adkission, 2010 Chairman of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), and includes presidents and CEOs of major US States including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Kentucky and other metro cities each representing thousands of US businesses.

HE Eng Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber , maintained that this unique initiative offers a unique opportunity for Dubai to showcase its business potential as this is the first time that such a large delegation of American business leaders is visiting the region. "In our efforts to promote positive economic growth in the realm of international trade, organizing delegation visits to Dubai will support the ongoing investment drive into the city. The US business leaders' mission to Dubai is a golden opportunity for the Emirate's business community to consolidate trade ties with their American counterparts and to showcase what best Dubai has to offer to them."

Buamim further stressed that this visit comes in line with the strategic objectives of Dubai Chamber in creating a favourable business environment and facilitating networking opportunities with Dubai's global partners and to promote the emirate as a lucrative business destination. "This visit will reaffirm the status of Dubai as a popular destination for companies to organize overseas meetings, incentive travels and a potential investment destination as these business representatives will pass on the word to thousands of other businessmen back home. The time is appropriate as the US is now exploring emerging markets and Dubai is using trade and logistics to power its economy therefore the Emirate, as an excellent gateway to the region, is in a better position to offer world-class services to the American investors," he said.

Buamim informed that this visit will open up new doors of opportunities for the US delegation to expand their activities by understanding the market and setting up new partnerships with their local counterparts including the multicultural business community, the private sector and Government entities on a bilateral basis. The visitors will also be apprised about the local market steering away from real estate and tourism sectors and moving towards trade, logistics and financial services as key drivers of growth in the current economic recovery period.

The Director General of Dubai Chamber informed that in the last six months two Chamber delegations visited ACCE Annual Convention in Raleigh, North Carolina as well as Los Angeles and Las Vegas to explore new prospects for Dubai's business community in the US and to enhance cooperation with the major American chambers of commerce on the sidelines of the Consumer Electronic Show and now comes this ACCE delegation visit to Dubai.

Buamim added, "The US is Dubai's third largest trading partner as Dubai's exports to the country in 2009 valued at AED377 million while the UAE exports to US valued at USD 1.3 bn registering a jump of 24% in the first nine months of 2009. There are 1,034 US partnership companies including 102 US ownership companies operating in Dubai. The Emirate has built solid and close relations with officials and commercial entities and Dubai is poised for an excellent trading relationship with the US in the long run."

During their stay in Dubai, the Chamber will facilitate networking meetings between the ACCE delegates and top Dubai entities including the Dubai International Financial Center, Dubai World Trade Center, JAFZA, DP World, Dubai Healthcare City and the UAE-US Chambers as well as the private sector. The visitors will be shown various Dubai landmarks including hotels and shopping malls during the week-long business initiative.
