Dubai jeweller to open the 'world's largest showroom'

DUBAI - Joyalukkas , a leading Dubai-based gold jewellery chain, will open the world's largest jewellery showroom in Chennai on Sunday, March 16.

The new showroom, spread over 70,000 sq. ft in the heart of Chennai, is Joyalukkas Group 's 65th outlet, and is in line with its plan to open over 100 showrooms in India and the GCC by 2009. The showroom will be opened by Vayalar Ravi, Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, at 10.30 am. It will be followed by the inauguration of the gold jewellery floor by Mr. Philip Oldan, Managing Director, Marketing & Jewellery, World Gold Council and the Diamond Jewellery.

Following the Chennai opening, Joyalukkas plans to open jewellery outlets in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Joy Alukkas, Chairman of the group, which is the largest 22-carat jewellery network with 50 outlets in the Gulf, besides more than a dozen in India, the UK and the US, said the world's largest jewellery showroom is the realisation of a vision since the foundation of the group in 1956. "The outlet, located at Prashanth Real Gold Tower, North Usman Road, T. Nagar, is testimonyl to the loyalty and trust that our customers have bestowed on us since our inception."

"The store, showcasing over a million designs from India, Bahrain, Turkey, Singapore and Italy, has been conceived to cater to the needs of every single consumer who enters the store. The store will reflect the quality in products and service, which have been the key driver of Joyalukkas ' brand equity across the world." Since the opening of the first showroom in the Gulf in 1987, the group has achieved strong growth. It currently has a network of more than 50 stores in the GCC alone, besides outlets London and New York.

The showroom also allows customers to gain an insight into creation of a diamond. A Diamond Cave inside the showroom will enable customers to understand the subtle workmanship that is involved in creating exquisite pieces of jewellery. In addition, the store has a dedicated section for precious stones such as Green Tourmaline, Pine Tourmaline, Black Tourmaline, Hialine, Quartz, Topaz, Ruby, Sapphire and pearls set in elaborate designs. Other attractions include jewellery design studio, Privileged Customer Club, branded designer and jewellery watches, gemstone consultant, kids play corner, and a Carnival Zone.
