Dubai forum lays foundation for smart and sustainable academies

Dubai Top officials from organisers Dubai Sports Council (DSC) have predicted the start of a new era for clubs in Dubai following the successful staging of the first Dubai International Football Academies Forum here earlier this week.
“As the sport body in the emirate we were required to take the initiative of floating this unique concept to assist our clubs following recommendations made at the annual Dubai International Conference. Now it is the responsibility of the clubs to ensure the implementation of the ideas and recommendations to be laid down by the working committee,” Dr Ahmad Sa’ad Al Sharif, Secretary-General, DSC , told Gulf News at the end of the forum on Sunday.
“The idea is to have all the clubs working together towards one goal. We don’t want to copy any academy, but get our clubs to create something of their own,” Dr Sharif said.
As per the set deadline, the conclusion of the forum will now see the setting up of a working committee and sub-committees consisting of representatives from all five Dubai clubs to arrive at the best model to ensure growth of future stars here.
