| Background |
Falconcity of WondersFalconcity of Wonders plans to develop the Falcon City of Wonders in Dubailand. The city is falcon shaped and will include life size replicas of the seven wonders of the world: the Great Pyramid in Giza, the Lighthouse at Alexandria, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Taj Mahal, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China. The Falconcity will cover an area of 4 million sq.m. and will include commercial, residential and educational leisure facilities. It will be built in 6 overlapping phases. Kling Consult is the design consultant, Hyder Consulting Middle EastHyder Consulting Middle East is the infrastructure consultant and National Engineering BureauNational Engineering Bureau is the lead consultant. |

In the end of August 2009, construction of phase 2 started (delayed from Q2 2009 due to building permits). In March 2009, construction of phase 1 including 332 villas was completed. In Q1 2008, infrastructure works of phase 2 started. In December 2006, Ghantoot Transport & General Contracting was awarded the infrastructure contract for phases 1 to 6 and Pauling Middle East was awarded the main construction contract. In March 2006, Hyder Consulting Middle EastHyder Consulting Middle East was awarded the infrastructure consultancy contract. In 2005, Kling Consult was awarded the design contract for 345 villas in phase 1. |
